America became actively involved in Northern Ireland, an area of the world where there was a great, "unsolvable" terrorist problem. There was a window of opportunity when the IRA called a cease fire. Thanks, in large part to America, there is peace in Northern Ireland, today, because America helped address the root causes of the terrorism which were lack of jobs, economic development and political power. Thus, the lesson of Northern Ireland for the Middle East, or any other part of the world where the antagonists can’t resolve a problem themselves, is that a powerful friend can help them when they can’t help themselves. This is the "Friendly Interventionist" main message. It was developed with MainMessage by Jewish Americans and reviewed by Palestinian Americans. Both groups see the potential in it because it’s a plan to address the key obstacles to peace in the Middle East. While governments can negotiate peace it takes the private sector to provide the jobs and economic development that are the real keys to peace. In the final analysis, it’s all about a good job and the hope that it brings for the future of one’s children, etc. Again, it shows the power and flexibility of MainMessage to handle any messaging problem.
